NPC Approves Five Projects, Rejects Two Projects and Returns Two Other Projects


KABUL: The 83rd weekly meeting of the National Procurement Commission (NPC) was held at the Presidential Palace on Saturday evening, dated 21/01/2017, presided by His Excellency Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

In this weekly meeting NPC deliberated on the following projects and took decisions regarding them, as appropriate: 
- The approval of the Transfer of ATRA Moneys to De Afghanistan Bank (DAB) 
- The approval of the No-cost Extension of the Contract Period for the Construction of the 40-Class Complex of Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan Teachers’ Training Institute for more nine (9) months
- The approval of Extension of the Contract Term of the Eight (8)-Kilometer Asphalt Road from Borag village to Surkhaab village of Mohammad Agha District of Logar Province with the total value of (160) million Afghanis. And, 
- The Approval of the Contract of Procurement of Five (5) Vehicles for the Regional Zones of De Afghanistan Bank (DAB) with the total price of twenty three (23) million Afghanis. 
However, the contracts of the Construction of the Educational Premises of Herat University, and the Construction of the Surrounding Wall of Alberoni University were rejected. Likewise, NPC returned the Projects of the Construction of Afghanistan Embassy in Islamabad, and the Construction of the Road from Nawabad-Kama to Sangar-Saray of Nangarhar Province to be further reviewed.
Moreover, the Contracts of the Procurement and Installation of Informational Technology Equipment for educational premises of the Ministry of Higher Education (MoHE), and the Procurement of Liquid Gas, Spare Parts and Lubricants and the Maintenance of Power Systems of the Ministry of Interior Affairs (MoIA) were postponed for the next NPC meeting. 
In addition to NPC members, His Excellency Doctor Abdullah Abdullah; Chief Executive of the National Unity Government, His Excellency, Mohammad Sarwar Danish; the 2nd Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan,  the Ministers of Finance, Economy and Justice, the Senior Advisor of the President in Infrastructure Affairs, the officials of the National Procurement Authority (NPA), the Transparency Oversights of SIGAR, the Parliamentary Anti-Corruption Caucus (PACC) and the oversight members of CSTC-A of the Resolute Support had also participated in the meeting.
