NPA approves Seven Contracts worth 2.347 billion Afs

KABUL: The 96th weekly meeting of the National Procurement Commission (NPC) was held at the presidential palace on Sunday evening May 7, 2017, presided by His Excellency Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. In this meeting 14 procurement issues were discussed and as a result seven contracts with the total value of more than 2 billion and 347 million Afs were approved, which included the following projects:
The round-trip flights services project of the 30 thousand 250 people to Hajj in Saudi Arabia;
Consulting services project of delivering vocational trainings in Kabul, Laghman and Helmand provinces;
The Bandwidth internet services project (temporarily);
Connecting 15 universities via Fiber Optic Cable;
The connecting services project of Trans-Eurasia Information Network (TEIN4);
Reconstruction project of gravel road from Duab to Dahan Pul Peyar and Mandul lengthening 11 km (no-cost extension);
Procurement contract of fuel for domestic airplanes required by the Ariana-Afghan Airlines (25% amendment).
On the other hand, the National Procurement Commission (NPC) returned 3 dam projects as well as the Sheberghan – Sar-e-Pol road design and construction project for economic analysis and resolving technical problems.
It also worth mentioning that the NPC conditionally approved the bandwidth internet services project of Ministry of Communication & Information Technology (MCIT), for a short period of time up until the new contract is signed. In this meeting, beside the members of National Procurement Commission (NPC), the officials of the National Procurement Authority (NPA), the Transparency Observers from SIGAR, members of the Financial and Budgetary as well as the National Economy Commissions of the parliament, the Parliamentary Anti-Corruption Caucus (PACC), and the Combined Security Transition Command for Afghanistan (CSTC-A) of the Resolute Support; had also participated.
